Try These Simple Mindfulness Techniques Every Day!


Most of live extremely busy lives, where our minds are pulled from pillar to post all day, every day which can leave our minds in a jumble making us feel anxious, stressed and uptight. In our busy lives, it can be hard to find 5 minutes to sit down and relax - let alone finding 30 minutes for a full meditation session! However, it is imperative that we try and find even a few minutes each day to just…. breathe.


Mindfulness helps us maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment, through a sharper lens ... When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we're sensing in the present moment rather than dwelling on the past or imagining the future. Below are just a few simple and quick exercises to squeeze into your everyday life, to help you feel more relaxed and present.


Mindful Breathing
Start by taking a slow, deep breath in and slowly release and breathe out. Each breath should take approx. 6 seconds. Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Let go of all thoughts, forget what is going on around you, and what you have to do later today and just focus on the present.



Mindful Listening
This exercise is designed to open your ears to sound, and listen in the present. Stop and listen to the sounds around you, may can be one sound or many sounds. This concentration allows your mind to focus on the present, and not worry about the past or future.



Mindful Preparation
Take time each day to write down and reflect on the day that has passed, and set clear intentions and goals for the following day. This allows you to go to sleep with a feeling of control, and feel prepared and calm once you wake up the following day.
